The Buffalo Park Centre
The new Buffalo Park Centre and Regional Archives will:
- provide permanent exhibit space to tell the Buffalo National Park story
- provide rotational exhibit space to attract outside exhibitions;
- provide a regional archive to preserve and protect the many important records and stories of our eastern Alberta communities and make them available to the public;
- promote educational opportunities through exhibits and school tours;
- become a cultural centre for the region and a focal point for the delivery of tourism attractions including Buffalo Adventures;
- provide year-round tourist information services to promote other regional attractions.
The centre will serve as a hub to Wainwright's Main Street and the region and will create an inviting place for local residents and tourists to interact.
The centre will strive to be a sustainable building with the efficient use of resources, energy, and finances.
Wainwright & District continues to grow and thrive as it becomes ever more important to the region in all aspects of economic development and rural strength. We recently celebrated our centennial and, as the Mayor of Wainwright, I speak for myself and Town Council in support of the efforts of the Buffalo Park Foundation as they move forward with this exciting and important initiative that will affect Wainwright, east-central Alberta and the Province.
Norm Coleman, Mayor of Wainwright
